color space

Chromatic coordinate system

A color space is a system for organizing and representing colors mathematically.

Different color spaces serve different purposes: RGB (red, green, blue) is standard for screens, CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) for printing, and HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) for intuitive color selection.

Converting between color spaces can cause subtle shifts, since each captures a different range of visible colors.
