power box

Utility junction cabinet

A power box is a utility enclosure housing electrical equipment—typically a transformer or junction box mounted on a pole or ground pad that distributes electricity to nearby buildings.

The term also applies informally to any electrical panel or breaker box: The power box is in the basement.

In automotive contexts, it may refer to a fuse box or battery terminal housing.
