post office counter
Mail service desk
A post office counter is the service window or desk inside a post office where customers conduct transactions—buying stamps, mailing packages, picking up certified letters.
The term distinguishes the staffed service area from self-service kiosks or post office boxes: I waited twenty minutes at the post office counter.
