porkfish

Yellow-striped reef dweller

A porkfish is a yellow-and-silver striped fish of the grunt family, found in warm Atlantic waters from Florida to Brazil.

It gets its name from the grunting sound it produces by grinding its teeth—supposedly resembling a pig.

Popular in aquariums for its bold markings: The porkfish schooled near the reef.
