trophy fish
Wall-worthy catch
A trophy fish is one caught for its impressive size, rarity, or the difficulty of landing it—worthy of mounting on a wall or photographing for proof.
The term applies both to the fish itself and to fishing specifically aimed at such catches: trophy fish waters, trophy fish regulations.
A fish doesn't have to be kept to qualify; catch-and-release anglers still pursue trophies.
