pooka
Mischievous Celtic spirit
A pooka is a mischievous spirit in Irish folklore, typically a shape-shifter that appears as a horse, goat, rabbit, or other animal.
Pookas are tricksters rather than evil spirits—they might lead travelers astray or offer cryptic advice.
The most famous literary pooka is Harvey, the invisible rabbit in Mary Chase's play: He says his name is Harvey and he's a pooka.
