polar circles
Latitude sixty-six degrees
The polar circles are the two parallels of latitude encircling Earth near its poles—the Arctic Circle in the north and the Antarctic Circle in the south, each about 66.5 degrees from the equator.
They mark the boundaries beyond which the sun remains continuously above or below the horizon for at least one full day each year, creating the midnight sun of summer and polar night of winter.
