plaster casting
Sculptural molding technique
Plaster casting is the process of creating a replica by pouring wet plaster into a mold and letting it harden.
The technique produces sculptures, architectural ornaments, and medical casts for immobilizing broken bones.
In another sense, plaster casting refers to making molds of body parts—hands, faces, pregnant bellies—as keepsakes or art: We did a plaster casting of the baby's footprints.
