photo-op

Politician's camera moment

A photo-op (short for photo opportunity) is a staged moment designed to produce flattering or newsworthy photographs, especially of politicians or celebrities.

The term often carries a cynical edge, implying the event exists primarily for publicity rather than substance: The factory visit was just a photo-op.

Also spelled photo op.
