postmarks
Envelope date impressions
Postmarks are the marks stamped on mail by postal services, typically showing the date and place of mailing and canceling the stamp to prevent reuse.
A postmark serves as proof of when and where something was sent: The letter bore a Paris postmark dated June 1942.
As a verb, to postmark is to apply such a stamp.
