patrilineal
Through the father
Patrilineal describes descent, inheritance, or kinship traced through the father's line rather than the mother's.
In patrilineal societies, children belong to their father's family group, and property, titles, and family names pass from father to son: Most European surnames follow patrilineal tradition.
The opposite is matrilineal.
