party leaders
Heads of factions
Party leaders are the senior figures who direct a political party's strategy, messaging, and legislative agenda.
In parliamentary systems, the party leader often becomes prime minister if the party wins; in legislatures, party leaders coordinate voting and manage their caucus: The party leaders met to negotiate the spending bill.
The term also applies informally to influential figures who shape party direction without holding official titles.
