opposition leaders
Minority party heads
Opposition leaders are politicians who head parties or coalitions not currently in power, typically leading the formal opposition in a legislature.
In parliamentary systems, the leader of the largest non-governing party often holds an official title like Leader of the Opposition.
The term also applies more broadly to prominent figures organizing resistance against those in power: Opposition leaders called for protests against the new law.
