pacificist

Rejects all violence

Pacificist is a less common variant of pacifist, referring to someone who opposes war and violence as means of settling disputes.

The term carries the same meaning as its more familiar counterpart but appears less frequently in contemporary usage.

Some writers have attempted to distinguish pacificist as specifically opposing war while pacifist opposes all violence, but this distinction has not caught on widely.

The pacificist movement gained momentum between the world wars.
