quaker
Person who shakes
A quaker is someone or something that quakes—that trembles or shakes.
The word sees occasional use for things that cause quaking: The 1906 San Francisco quaker devastated the city.
More commonly, quaker appears in compounds like quaker grass, named for its trembling seed heads. (Capitalized Quaker is a member of the Religious Society of Friends.)
