overwriter

Saves over existing

An overwriter is someone who writes too much—using excessive words, descriptions, or flourishes where fewer would suffice.

The term appears in discussions of prose style, often as criticism: The editor told him he was an overwriter who needed to cut half his adjectives.

In computing, an overwriter is a program or process that replaces existing data by writing new data in its place.
