overdubs

Recorded track layers

Overdubs are additional audio tracks recorded over an existing recording.

In music production, a band might lay down basic tracks together, then overdub vocals, guitar solos, or harmonies separately: The producer added string overdubs to sweeten the chorus.

The verb overdub means to record such additions: She overdubbed her backing vocals last night.
