overboost
Too much boost
Overboost is a temporary increase in turbocharger pressure beyond its normal maximum, providing a brief surge of extra power.
Modern turbocharged engines allow overboost under heavy acceleration for short periods: The car's overboost kicks in during passing maneuvers.
The term also appears in racing games and motorsport contexts where drivers activate boost for competitive advantage.
