turbo lag
Throttle response delay
Turbo lag is the delay between pressing the accelerator and feeling the boost from a turbocharged engine.
Turbochargers need exhaust gases to spin up, so there's a moment of waiting before power arrives: The car has great top-end power but noticeable turbo lag off the line.
Engineers work to minimize it; drivers learn to anticipate it.
