open day

Visitors welcome event

An open day is an event when an institution—typically a school, university, or business—invites the public to visit and learn about its facilities and programs.

Prospective students tour campuses on open days; companies hold them for recruitment or community relations: We attended the university's open day last weekend.

The term is more common in British than American English, where open house serves the same purpose.
