oldhead

Long-time scene veteran

An oldhead is someone from an older generation, especially one respected for experience or knowledge in a particular scene or culture.

The term originated in hip-hop and urban communities to describe veterans who've been around long enough to know how things work: The oldheads at the barbershop were talking about how music used to be.

It can be affectionate or dismissive depending on context—wisdom or out-of-touch stubbornness: Don't be such an oldhead about it.
