nonhumans
Not people, broadly
Nonhumans are living beings or entities that are not human.
The term appears in discussions of animal rights, artificial intelligence, and science fiction, where it groups together everything from animals to aliens to robots: The study examined how nonhumans are represented in children's literature.
It implies a human-centered frame of reference—defining others by what they lack rather than what they are.
