network hub
Central data junction
A network hub is a device that connects multiple computers or devices on a local network, receiving data and broadcasting it to all connected ports.
Unlike a switch, which directs traffic to specific destinations, a hub blindly repeats everything to everyone—simple but inefficient.
Hubs were common in early networking but are now largely obsolete, replaced by switches and routers.
