non-
Absence marker prefix
Non- is a prefix attached to words, with or without the hyphen, in order to negate the meaning of the word (usually an adjective or noun), as in nontoxic or nondiscrimination.
Non- can also be used to express an idea that is the reverse or opposite of the word that follows it, such as nonresident, or to suggest that something is unimportant, as in nonissue and nonstarter.
