disproving
Showing something untrue
Disproving is demonstrating that something is false or incorrect.
You disprove a theory by showing evidence that contradicts it, or disprove an alibi by establishing the person was elsewhere: The experiment succeeded in disproving the hypothesis.
Unlike merely doubting or questioning, disproving implies conclusive refutation.
