nameservers

Domain lookup machines

Nameservers are computers that translate domain names into IP addresses, allowing browsers to locate websites.

When you type a web address, nameservers look up where that domain actually lives on the internet.

Domain registrars let you configure nameservers to point your domain to different hosting providers: I updated the nameservers to move my site to a new host.
