mythologist
Studies ancient tales
A mythologist is someone who studies, interprets, or writes about myths—the traditional stories that cultures use to explain origins, natural phenomena, and human nature.
The term applies both to scholars who analyze mythology academically and to writers who retell or synthesize mythic narratives: Joseph Campbell was perhaps the twentieth century's most influential mythologist.
