muezzins

Mosque tower voices

Muezzins is the plural of muezzin, the person at a mosque who calls Muslims to prayer five times daily.

The call, or adhan, is traditionally sung from a minaret: The muezzins' voices echoed across the city at dawn.

In modern practice, the call is often broadcast through loudspeakers.
