moonquake
Seismic lunar event
A moonquake is seismic activity on the Moon—the lunar equivalent of an earthquake.
Moonquakes are generally weaker than earthquakes but can last much longer due to the Moon's dry, rigid structure.
They were first detected by seismometers placed during the Apollo missions: The instruments recorded thousands of moonquakes over several years.
