moneran

Bacterium, for example

A moneran is a single-celled organism lacking a membrane-bound nucleus—bacteria and their relatives.

The term belongs to an older classification system that grouped all prokaryotes together in the kingdom Monera.

Modern biology has largely abandoned this grouping, splitting prokaryotes into Bacteria and Archaea, but moneran still appears in older textbooks and general discussions of microscopic life.
