mineral wool

Spun stone insulation

Mineral wool is fibrous insulation material made by spinning or drawing molten rock, slag, or glass into fine strands.

The resulting wool-like mass traps air, providing thermal and acoustic insulation for buildings and industrial equipment.

Rock wool and slag wool are types of mineral wool; fiberglass is sometimes included under the term.
