anechoic
Absorbing all sound
Anechoic describes a space designed to absorb sound rather than reflect it, eliminating echoes and reverberation.
An anechoic chamber is used for acoustic testing and audio recording, its walls lined with sound-absorbing material: The microphone was calibrated in an anechoic room.
The term also applies to materials or surfaces that absorb rather than reflect radar or sonar signals.
