midrolls

Breaks during content

Midrolls are advertisements inserted into the middle of video or audio content, as opposed to prerolls (before) or postrolls (after).

The term comes from online video platforms and podcasting, where creators or platforms place ads at natural breaks during longer content: The podcast has two midrolls at the fifteen and thirty minute marks.

Also spelled mid-rolls.
