microimage

Miniaturized visual record

A microimage is a photographic image reduced to very small size, typically for archival storage or space efficiency.

Microfilm and microfiche store documents as microimages readable only with magnification.

The term also applies to any extremely small visual representation: The chip contains microimages of the company's entire patent archive.
