microbleeds

Small cerebral hemorrhages

Microbleeds are tiny hemorrhages in brain tissue, visible on MRI scans as small dark spots.

They result from blood leaking through weakened vessel walls, often associated with aging, high blood pressure, or conditions like cerebral amyloid angiopathy.

While a single microbleed may be insignificant, multiple microbleeds can indicate increased stroke risk or cognitive decline.
