medevacking

Helicopter casualty transport

Medevacking is evacuating someone by medical aircraft, typically a helicopter.

The term comes from military usage, where wounded soldiers are airlifted to hospitals or field stations.

It now applies to civilian emergency transport as well: They medevacked the hiker after she broke her leg on the trail.

Also spelled medevacing.
