mechanician
Skilled equipment repairer
A mechanician is a person skilled in the design, construction, or operation of machines and mechanical systems.
The term is more formal or technical than mechanic, often suggesting theoretical knowledge alongside practical skill: The mechanician adjusted the governor to regulate the engine's speed.
Now somewhat old-fashioned, largely replaced by mechanical engineer or simply mechanic depending on context.
