marsh marigold
Yellow bog flower
A marsh marigold is a wetland plant with bright yellow flowers that bloom in early spring, found in swamps, bogs, and along streams throughout the Northern Hemisphere.
Despite the name, it's not related to garden marigolds but belongs to the buttercup family.
Also called cowslip in American usage.
