early bloomer
Matures before peers
An early bloomer is someone who develops or matures ahead of the typical timeline—physically, intellectually, or in achievement.
The term comes from horticulture, where some plants flower before others of their kind.
A child who reads at three or a teenager who finds career success might be called an early bloomer: She was an early bloomer who published her first novel at nineteen.
The opposite is a late bloomer.
