longeron
Aircraft structural beam
A longeron is a principal longitudinal structural member in an aircraft fuselage or nacelle, running the length of the body to provide strength and rigidity.
Longerons connect to frames or bulkheads and help the fuselage resist bending loads.
The term comes from French, where it means a main beam or girder.
