Vibration-resistant fastener type
A lock nut is a nut designed to resist loosening from vibration or torque.
Some lock nuts use a nylon insert that grips the bolt threads; others have a slightly deformed shape that creates friction.
A second nut tightened against the first also serves as a lock nut: Make sure to use a lock nut on anything that vibrates.
