toe stop
Roller skate stopper
A toe stop is the rubber brake mounted at the front of a roller skate, used for stopping, slowing down, or pivoting.
Skaters press down on the toe stop to drag it against the ground: She jammed her toe stop into the floor to avoid a collision.
Toe stops come in various sizes and hardnesses depending on skating style—derby skaters often prefer smaller stops that won't catch during footwork.
