laboratory rat

Experimental animal subject

A laboratory rat is a rat bred and kept for use in scientific experiments, particularly in medical, psychological, and behavioral research.

The white or albino rat is the iconic image.

By extension, laboratory rat (or lab rat) describes any person subjected to repeated testing or experimentation, or someone who spends excessive time in a lab environment.

After three clinical trials, I felt like a laboratory rat.
