kamikazes

WWII suicide pilots

Kamikazes were Japanese pilots in World War II who deliberately crashed explosive-laden aircraft into enemy targets, particularly American ships.

The term extends to anyone who undertakes a suicidal mission or acts with reckless disregard for self-preservation: a kamikaze driver weaving through traffic.

A kamikaze is also a cocktail of vodka, triple sec, and lime juice.
