kamikaze drones
Disposable attack flyers
Kamikaze drones are unmanned aerial vehicles designed to crash into their targets and detonate on impact, destroying themselves in the attack.
The term draws on the World War II Japanese suicide pilots.
Unlike conventional drones that return after deploying weapons, these are single-use: Russian forces have been using Iranian-made kamikaze drones against Ukrainian infrastructure.
Also called loitering munitions or suicide drones.
