juking

Faking out defenders

Juking means making quick, deceptive movements to evade someone—originally from American football, where a runner jukes to fake out defenders: He juked left and cut right.

The word extends to any evasive maneuver: She juked through the crowded sidewalk.

In another sense, juking means dancing provocatively, grinding against a partner, common in club settings.

To juke can also mean to play music on a jukebox or, in some contexts, to manipulate or cheat: juking the stats.
