A highlight reel is a compilation of the best moments from a sports game, season, or career—the spectacular catches, decisive plays, and crowd-pleasing feats.
The term extends beyond athletics to mean any collection of someone's greatest hits or most impressive achievements: Her résumé reads like a highlight reel.
It can also be used ironically when someone's failures are so spectacular they deserve their own compilation.
