mad
Lost your marbles
Mad means insane or mentally disturbed, though this sense now sounds old-fashioned or clinical: a mad scientist, go mad with grief.
More commonly, mad means angry: She was mad at him for forgetting.
Mad also expresses enthusiasm or obsession: mad about jazz, mad for chocolate.
In British slang, mad can mean wild or reckless: It was a mad night out.
The intensifier mad means extremely: mad talented, mad expensive—common in youth slang, especially in New York. (Capitalized MAD may refer to the magazine or the Cold War doctrine.)
