impalements
Bodies on stakes
Impalements is the plural of impalement—acts of piercing a body with a sharp stake or pole.
Historically, impalement was a method of torture and execution: The impalements ordered by Vlad the Impaler gave him his fearsome reputation.
The word also describes any accidental or violent piercing by a pointed object: The construction site saw several impalements from rebar.
