lethal injections
Fatal administered chemicals
Lethal injections are a method of execution in which a condemned prisoner is killed by intravenous administration of drugs—typically a sequence that sedates, paralyzes, and stops the heart.
The method was introduced in the United States in the 1970s as a supposedly more humane alternative to electrocution, hanging, or gas.
The state carried out the lethal injection at midnight.
